Ideas flow easily with a repeat client, and the result is a project that delights in many ways. This mountain house on the Blue Ridge Parkway is no exception! After designing a formal house in the city, the client desired a different language and a relaxing house that responds to the landscape. With elements of Scandinavian and European aesthetics, this clean and crisp structure seamlessly marries traditional and contemporary qualities while respecting the rock outcroppings and natural elements of the surroundings. Expansive windows fill the house with natural light and large porches allow for enjoyable viewing of multiple mountain ranges. As the seasons turn, the house is filled with ever-changing colors. Although capable of hosting the large family, the house lives comfortably and intimately for the two primary residents.
