A kitchen designer, an architect, and years in the same home led to a striking new interpretation of the kitchen and living area. Karen and Mark added to the house and created a new kitchen area early in their ownership of this 110-year-old colonial-revival home. That very traditional stained cherry kitchen became the perfect backdrop to years of high activity with lots of dogs and kids. Twenty-two years later, making the decision to stay in the house, they realized the kitchen needed to be updated. The two undertook a clean slate approach to the space. This new design is their dream kitchen. Walnut veneer custom cabinetry incorporates interesting details and sleek hardware designed by the two. Dolomite Quartz-marble slab tops with matching backsplashes create a bright and eye pleasing focal point. The walls and trim now painted a deep warm gray give a very cozy and at the same time dramatic feel to the space. The completed living-kitchen space is ready for another round of dogs and kids!
